Ecobond Water Applications

1. Rainwater Harvesting, storage and conveying:

 Spray Ecobond onto a cleared slope or also use Ecobond treated roads as harvesting pads. The water then does not permeate into the soil but runs off lower down to where it can be used. Catch the rain where it falls and store it in an Ecobond lined pond or guide it with Ecobond treated channels to crops, troughs, rivers or dams.  

1ha (10 000m2) harvests 5 million litres p.a. where average rainfall in SA is 500mm p.a.

Dry areas like Karoo harvest 2 million litres p.a. from 200mm p.a. If 4 million litres is needed, double the size of the harvesting pad. It is called Ecobond Rainwater Savings Bank.

Dry spells and droughts can decimate crop or livestock yields. Ecobond can reduce or eliminate the biggest risk of farming by saving and storing enough sweet (no salts) clean rainwater to bridge dry periods to maintain profitable yields and save the crops and animals.

Many rural people do not have jobs, food or income and many migrate to cities where they often find no work but violence, drugs, hunger and crime.  Ecobond can enable rural people and the unemployed in townships to create their own jobs, food and income with Ecobond Foodmaker from normal and arid land (see brochure below.)


2. Ecobond lined water storage ponds

Earth dams often leak less each year until fines seal the tiny voids to a large degree. Ecobond can cheaply accelerate this process to contain water more effectively sooner e.g. immediately or in 1 season at low cost instead of four. Use Ecobond mix-in, spray-on or slurry membrane seals or a combination thereof.

3. Ecobond waste water treatment ponds:

80% of all sewage worldwide is not treated because it is too expensive. Ecobond can cut these costs to less than half by strengthening in situ or imported soils and making it water resistant.


4. Ecobond containment technology and evaporation ponds:

Mine closures can be done at lower cost while communities can sustain themselves long term with Ecobond membranes separating the polluted soils from clean imported soils.

Ecobond can also keep new rainwater above the membranes and use it there (agriculture) or guide it to an Ecobond pond or dam separated from polluted water. Purifying this relatively clean water is easier for communities.

5. Other

Other Ecobond water related applications e.g. wetlands, sinkhole prevention, aquacultures, storm water channels, lined dry river bed/ wells, control of mud, moisture, floods, seepage, erosion, vegetation, evaporation, insulation, etc.
